Curiously enough, Genesis does not actually say global flood that is a medieval interpretation primarily. It actually says the whole face of the earth . When we talk about the face of the moon, are we talking about the whole moon or only the half that we can ever see? The whole face of the earth was an ancient expression meaning essentially as far as my eyes can see. And there actually was a flood the Black Sea Deluge of about 5600 BCE that seems to match the account quite well.
